Be My Valentine
Christine and Cameron met on Valentine’s Day in Valentine, Texas, at the opening of Cameron’s Valentine Texas Bar in 2020.
They talked every day after. When the world shut down weeks later, they chose each other without hesitation, regrouping in Marfa with Christine’s dog Yoko and riding out the beginning of the pandemic together.
He didn’t dominate the room or the experience. He spent the first 10 to 15 minutes getting to know us and gauging our energy. He truly wanted to know us as people, and photograph us through that lens.

Mexico is foundational to the cultures they grew up with in California and Texas. When they began planning their wedding, Mexico City felt inevitable. The moment they found Proyecto Público Prim, they knew it was the right setting for their multi day event.
Valentine’s Day showed up everywhere. Custom stick and poke tattoos by Slow Poke Marfa, the same artist tattooing in the bar the night they met. A four tier heart shaped cake. An after party room filled with hundreds of heart shaped balloons. In place of table florals, melted candle centerpieces ran across green marble dining tables. Custom fabric entryway draping and large format Valentine neon were made by local artisans.
We loved the voyeurism in the work. The feeling that the photographs were taken by someone attending the wedding, not a classic hired photographer.

The weekend was one long romantic fever dream.
