At the Edge of Los Angeles

Daria and Blake were married at the Sheats–Goldstein Residence, widely considered one of the most important examples of midcentury residential architecture in Los Angeles.

Designed by John Lautner, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, the home sits within five acres of tropical landscape and is defined by a continuous relationship between indoors and outdoors.

Guests arrived by crossing stepping stones over a koi pond and gathered inside the home’s iconic living room, where glass walls open fully to the Los Angeles skyline. The ceremony took place at the pointed edge of the home’s cantilevered pool, suspended above the city.

After the ceremony, Daria and Blake walked the jungle paths down to the property’s private Skyspace by artist James Turrell. Known for immersive works that frame the sky and shape perception through light, Turrell’s Skyspaces create a focused, meditative encounter with space and time, with only a handful located on private properties worldwide.

I have worked with a lot of photographers in my life but never a wedding photographer, and I thought that they might just "go through the motions" of getting the required shots, but it really felt like Bryan was inspired to take great photos on the day and really cared.

The evening continued with dinner at Hinoki and the Bird, followed by dancing and live music.

Later, the celebration shifted to Bungalow 3 at the Chateau Marmont.

Is it even an LA party if it doesn’t end at the Chateau?
